Introduction
Cortina is an alarm and “Digital Curtain” application designed to help friends and family quietly check whether someone has started their day.
Your privacy is important to us. Cortina is intentionally designed to collect as little personal information as possible.
Who Operates Cortina
Cortina is operated by Cushty Designs.
Information We Store
Cortina currently does not require user accounts.
The app may store the following information:
- A generated curtain ID
- A secret key used to authorize curtain updates
- Curtain open/closed timestamps
- Alarm settings stored locally on your device
- Watched curtain codes added by the user
- Limited device and diagnostic information used for alarm reliability and compatibility monitoring
Diagnostic and Reliability Information
Cortina may collect limited technical and diagnostic information to improve alarm reliability, compatibility, and application stability across different Android devices.
This information may include:
- Device manufacturer and model information
- Android version and SDK version
- App version and build number
- Alarm lifecycle events such as alarm scheduling, triggering, snoozing, dismissal, and full-screen alarm display status
This diagnostic information is used solely for reliability monitoring, troubleshooting, compatibility analysis, and improving the alarm experience.
Cortina does not use this information for advertising, profiling, or tracking users across apps or services.
Information We Do Not Collect
Cortina does not currently collect:
- Names
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
- Contacts
- Location data
- Messages
- Photos
- Payment information
Notifications and Alarm Permissions
Cortina requests permissions required for alarm functionality, including notifications, exact alarms, full-screen alarm display, and wake lock functionality.
These permissions are used solely to provide reliable alarm behavior.
Shared Curtain Links
Users may share public curtain links or codes with friends and family.
Anyone with a shared curtain code or link may view that curtain’s open/closed status.
Users should only share curtain links with people they trust.
Data Storage
Curtain state data is stored on servers hosted by Cortina.
Alarm schedules and most user preferences are stored locally on the user’s device.
Data Deletion
Users may delete watched curtains locally within the app.
To request deletion of curtain data stored by Cortina:
- Open the Cortina app
- Go to the “My Curtain” page
- Tap the “Delete Data” button
- Follow the instructions on the deletion page
The deletion flow will help you retrieve your Curtain ID and Deletion Key before submitting a deletion request.
Security
Cortina uses secret keys to authorize curtain updates and HTTPS encryption for network communication.
However, no internet-based service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children’s Privacy
Cortina is not directed toward children under 13 years of age.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Updated versions will be published on this page.
